Benefits of Shankha Prakshalana

Shankha Prakshalan is one of the cleansing techniques in yoga which cleanses the entire intestinal tract and detoxifies you completely. This is also quite easy to practice and can be done at home also, but it is important to practice the first time under the guidance of some knowledgeable person. Shankha Prakshalan is part of six yogic cleansing practices.

Effects of Shankha Prakshalan

In Shankha Prakshalan there are 5 poses which are practiced one after another. One cycle consists of the five poses
  1. Tadasana
  2. Triyak Tadasana
  3. Katichakrasana
  4. Triyak Bhujangasana
  5. Udarakarshana

Total of eight rounds or more can be practiced. Between each two rounds two glasses of slightly warm saline water is taken. In between if there is urge to go to toilet you should go and relieve yourself.

When you go to the toilet the first time the feces will be more more solid in nature and as you drink water and complete the entire practice only water would be expelled. I would be writing more in details about this process in the next post.

Practice of Shankha Prakshalan helps in eliminating all toxic elements from the body. It has extremely beneficial effect on cough, asthma, helps in losing weight, constipation, migraine and many other diseases.

This can be practiced once every 8 to 12 weeks but it should only be practiced under the guidance of some expert.

Other Yogic Cleansing Techniques
