Food and Other Suggestions for IBS Cure

In the last article Cures for IBS With Yoga I discusses how yoga can be beneficial in IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome). In this article let us see how few other changes would be helpful in IBS. Usually having disciplined food habits and proper rest are beneficial for most diseases and for IBS it is all the more applicable.

Food for IBS

Food which is easier to digest puts less pressure on the entire digestive system, hence preferable. Now which are the food which are easier to digest? The answer is contained in two foods in natural form - fruits and vegetables.

Eating more fruits and vegetables will ease the pressure on the digestion problem and help relieving IBS symptoms. Apart from that reduce the intake of grains like wheat, corn and rice etc. If you are non vegetarian you can include fish as it is quite healthy and small amount of meat. Include nuts and beans and legumes (soaked overnight and boiled). Reason for that is many people have problems digesting grains because the protein in the grains react against the digestive system. Those who have more sensitive digestive systems get affected more, though it is a problem for everybody.

The agricultural economy also produces more grains as compared to fruits and vegetables. The problem is we all are habituated to eat grains right from childhood. All are taste buds are developed around grains and it is difficult to kick grains out of the food table. But gradually reducing the grains and increasing the fruits and veggies is a good option and must for IBS sufferers.

I have personally started this practice though it has been a very short while but since I reduced my grain intake, I could immediately see I feel lighter with more energy. The digestion seems to be better now.

Other Suggestions for IBS
Have a nice rest and lot of problems will disappear. Sleep on time and do not overstretch. Try to keep a relaxed attitude especially at work.

Exercise regularly. In the last article Cures for IBS With Yoga I mentioned the yoga poses which are beneficial for IBS. Regular practice of these poses will help in IBS.
