Many people want to improve their digestive system and get rid of many ailments of the abdomen region but the are not able to practice yoga. Many people I meet or interact with are interested in practicing yoga but somehow they are not able to practice yoga.
The reason behind this may be attributed to many factors like not finding enough time, not enough guidance available and also not able to gather courage since many poses may look complicated. Let me give you some solid reasons to practice Vajrasana and how to remove any reasons which stop you from practicing this pose.
Vajrasana is also known as the thunderbolt pose and it has many benefits a pose which is extremely beneficial pose. This pose is one of the underestimated poses but I really love this pose for the benefits it provides despite it being so simple. It has multiple benefits and there is no reason why not all of us can practice this everyday.

- Provides Natural Acupressure - When we sit in this pose calf muscles are pressed naturally. The calf muscles contain acupressure points for the digestive system and hence improves digestion.
- Improves Back Strength and Posture - In this pose it is easy to keep the back straight. Within few months of practice you would be able to observe the changes in your posture and the improved strength in you back and find it easier to keep it straight for a longer time.
- Can be Practice Any Time - This posture does not have any time restriction and can be practiced both before and after food. Infact most people practice this after food so help the digestion process.
- Can Help You to Stay Still - Once you start practicing you would be able to sit still for a long time at the same place. This helps those who want to practice meditation. You can also practice pranayama in this posture.
- Improves Ankle Flexibility - Since you are sitting on the ankles, it improves the flexibility and the strength of the ankle joints, however if you have undergone knee surgery or injury then you should avoid this pose.
- Does not require Much Skills - Since this is such a simple pose you can easily practice it at home and do not require much guidance to practice this.
- Reading - You can read any book, or browse internet in this pose.
- Teaching your Kids - While teaching your kids you can ask them to do their homework on the carpet and you can sit in this pose near them.
- Watching TV - Yes you can also practice this pose while watching your serial or movie on the television.
- Talking on the Phone - While talking to someone sit on this pose. Since you will not be moving you would be able to have more involved conversation.
- After Dinner - Just after the dinner make it a practice to sit in this pose to 10 mins. Initially you may only do it for a minute or so and then gradually increase the time.
