Yoga for Chronic Fatigue - Sun Salutations

If you feel fatigued all the time then yoga can come to your rescue. In an earlier post I had written about how to regain energy with power nap I had mentioned how taking a short nap after coming back work can help you regain energy. In fact in many countries like Japan short afternoon nap is encouraged so that employees can work with increase efficiency.

However sometimes you may start feeling chronic fatigue all the time. You may sleep and get relief for some and again within few hours you may again start feeling tired and fatigued. When this happens again and again then sleep may not be the solution, since how long can you practically sleep? You cannot afford to sleep multiple times or whenever you feel tired. Chronic tiredness may be caused by many reasons including thyroid problems, high or low blood pressure, lethargic digestive system or problems of nervous system.

The good news is Surya Namaskar or Sun salutations can help you overcome chronic fatigue syndrome. There are many other yoga poses which help in relieving chronic fatigue but they mainly work through providing relief in mental stress and relaxing the body muscles and the joints and the nerves.

If the the tiredness or fatigues is caused by conditions like thyroid disorders then the best or the fastest way to get relief is through Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutations. I have also experimented it on myself. If I am too tired after the office work, I found that if I just wash your hands, feet and face and start practicing around 24 to 32 rounds of Surya Namaskar it gives instant relief. It may sound counter intuitive since exercises would tend to tire you more, atleast physically, but Surya Namaskar can work in the opposite way.

It increases the blood flow through the entire body, activates all the glands. Stretches all the major muscles, provides the effects of aerobic exercises and energizes you totally. When practiced continuously for few weeks in helps even more by reducing weight which can also cause constant tiredness and fatigue.

If you cannot practice everyday then practice it alternative days or every two days. Important thing is to practice it regularly so that all the body system are fit and rejuvenated and you would be fit and energetic even with minimum amount of sleep which is recommended for normal people.

PS - You should eat in moderate quantities and have early dinner if you want to recover faster from chronic tiredness and fatigue.
