Physical and Mental Benefits of Aum (OM) Chanting

Mantra
Aum or Om is the starting mantra which is used before reciting all mantras in Hinduism. Mantras are basically sounds which have specific meaning and vibrations. As per the books Om or Aum is the start and end of every thing.
All mantras start with AUM. There are spiritual benefits of AUM mantra since as per ancient sages this sound resonates with the sound of the universe. This was experienced in states of deep meditation by the sages and hence they encouraged everybody to use this as the initial sound of any mantras.
Though mantras are used for praying and meditation purpose, when recited loudly they also have physical benefits also. The sound which is caused by recitation of mantras have healing effects. Though many mantras are available for chanting, I find it very easy to recite this, since it is a very small mantra, easy to remember and chant. Anyone can chant this mantra very easily and get the benefits.

1. Relief in Sinus Problems
During the chanting of the mantra a humming noise is produced which creates vibrations in the the head region. The air movements happen between the sinus cavities and the nasal passage which opens up the pores and helps absorb more fresh oxygen and more ventilation is there in the sinus cavities. Due to better ventilation fresh air is available to the sinus cavities which prevents clogging and infection of the sinuses.

Respected Sir,
Is it advisable to do yoga when suffering from cold? If so, which are the asanas that a person should avoid at this time.
In my opinion you can always do poses which are not strenuous to practice. Usually poses in which head is towards the ground like Sarvangasana, halasana are good for cold.

Sir can you tell which is the suitable counter pose for Naukasana and Ardha Salabhasana. Currently i'm doing Naukasana and Ardha Salabhasana as its counter pose. Is this right?
I think you re doing the right thing. You can also try Chakrasana (Wheel Pose)
