How to Cure and Control Gout and Joint Pains

Gout is a type of arthritis which happens due to accumulation of uric acid in the body. Usually the symptoms of gout starts from the pain in the toes on your feet, though the symptoms may sometimes start from other body parts also. It is important to take care of gout during the initial stages otherwise the problem can spread to other organs and joints rapidly.

Gout is a painful condition which happens in the various joints. It is caused by excess amount of uric acid which is produced in the body from the Kidney. When the body is not able to remove the entire uric acid from the body, it starts accumulating in the joints. As mentioned above, usually big toes get affected by the accumulation of uric acid and then it spreads gradually to other joints such as ankle, knees, hip and the shoulder. Over a period of time this will cause pain all over the body and also cause many complications including constipation, swollen legs and feet and heart problems.

Usually occurrence of gout is difficult to predict, however there are certain risk factors and common reasons which can cause gout and knowing them is good for those suffering from gout and can help them to control gout. Those who have family history of gout, in late thirties and onwards and do not exercise enough combined with alcohol and too much of meat consumption are more at risk of suffering from gout. Those who have weak kidney functionality are more likely to suffer from gout attack.

Detection of gout usually requires blood test. Blood test will reveal the amount of uric acid in your blood and point at risk of contacting this condition. Usually for males the range of uric acid is between 3.5 to 7 mg/dl and for females it is 2.5 to 5.7 mg/dl and if it towards the higher range or exceeds this limit then you are highly likely to suffer from gout. So if you have pain in the big toe and it last for more than few days then it is likely that you are suffering from gout and blood test can confirm that.

How to Control and Cure Gout
The best way to control gout is through control of food. For controlling gout attack reduce the amount of red meat and alcohol. These produce a lot of uric acid and aggravate joint swelling and pain due to gout. Also reduce or stop taking lentils and other seeds which have lot of protein. Another thing to stop taking is soda and especially diet coke. It contains many chemicals and artificial sweeteners which are poison for you. If you take high quantities of soda and suffer from gout, just see the effect once you get rid of soda.

In case of serious pain you can take pain killer and drugs prescribed by your doctor. Usually doctors say that gout cannot be totally cured, but with proper care it can be cured in my opinion. Taking a lot of water early in the morning is really beneficial since it flushes out many toxins including uric acid from the body in form of urine.

One of the best remedies for gout is fenugreek seeds also known as methi seeds in Hindi. Just take two tea spoon of fenugreek seeds and soak in a bowl of water. In the morning drink the water and chew the seeds. This is one of the excellent remedies for gout and diabetes.

Once the gout is under control using the above treatment start practicing surya namaskar slowly upto 8 rounds in the first week. Then take it to 12 and eventually to 21 rounds. Practice of Surya Namaskar will increase the blood flow through all the joints of the body and remove all the uric acid accumulation in these places hence beneficial in gout. All the organs including kidneys also start working properly and become healthier which also help in controlling gout.

Lastly, practice anulom vilom pranayama which purifies the blood and a natural way to control this disease. For severe attacks practice for 15 minutes each in the morning and evening.
