Effective Herbal Remedies for Gout

Gout is a painful condition caused by inflammation of the joints. The inflammation is caused due to deposition of uric acid in crystal form into the joints. The swelling caused due to the deposits cause swelling and pain.

In another article how to control and cure gout we saw some solutions for gout including yoga. There are some herbal solutions which can be effective for treating gout and let us see few of them -

1. Triphala - Triphala is made up of three dried and powdered fruits. Each of these fruits have amazing healing properties and when they are combined together they form one of the best herbal tonic in the nature. Triphala should be taken one tea spoon everyday with water or glass of milk everyday at bed time. Doing this will help in removing the uric acid deposits from the joints and get rid of gout. Triphala is one of the best natural remedies for constipation and gout.

2. Cherry Juice - Cherry juice extract is another effective remedy for gout as it contains flavonoids which have anti inflammatory properties which is effective in reducing swelling and pain.

3. Red Grapes - Like cherry red grapes also contain flavonoids and help in reducing the inflammation in the joints.

4. Fenugreek (Methi) Seeds - Fenugreek seeds soaked in the water overnight and taken in the morning is also another effective remedy. It is being used in India for many years to treat both diabetes and gout. I have seen practically how efficient and cost effective this simple herbal remedy is for gout. If you drink it in the morning you can see the difference in the evening itself.

5. Castor Oil - Castor oil is also very effective in joint pain relief including gout. Massage the joints with castor oil. You can also take table spoon of castor oil with juice. This will lubricate the joints and take out the uric acid deposits. Many people have reported complete relief in one to two months.

6. Drink lots of Water - Add some lemon juice to around 1.5 liters of water and drink it as much as possible in the morning. Then drink the rest within next 1 hour. This will flush the toxins from the joints and also have other benefits like constipation relief and glowing skin.

7. Ginger Water is also very useful - This one I read from another blog. Grate around one inch of ginger and put it in one liter of water for one day. Strain out the water and put it in fridge. Drink one glass twice a day.

The above herbal remedies are very effective, but you should also remember that there are few things which should be avoided. If you do not avoid certain food then gout attack will keep on increasing. Some of the food to avoid are -

1. Alcohol - Alcohol and red wine increase gout attack and should be seriously avoided.
2. Sea Food - Sea food and other organ meats like kidney, liver etc. contain high concentration of purines which get converted into uric acid and cause gout.

Regular exercise or Surya Namaskar also helps keep gout at bay. Practice Sun salutations of around 16 to 20 rounds a day. This will increase the blood flow in the body, cause sweating and throw out all toxins.
