How to Regain Energy with Power Nap
Many times I come home in the evening I feel lack of energy due to strain on my eyes working on the computers the whole time. Sometimes I feel drained due to working late into the night the previous day. Usually I practice Yoga in the evening and when I am too tired the mind is not alert, and it is difficult to practice the poses which require balance.
When this happens the evenings can get ruined. The fatigue can cause headaches and you can be drained of energy. One of the best solution I found for this problem is a short power nap. Usually power naps are associated with office breaks. In many countries and companies, employees are encouraged to take power naps and it is said to increase the productivity. I have not tried that myself but heard a lot of good thing about power naps.
I do the next best thing. When I get too much fatigued, I take a short nap of about 45 minutes when I come back from office in the evening. I usually set up an alarm near me which helps me to wake up after 45 minutes. When I get up, I am fresh and full of energy for the rest of the evening.
In most office jobs, like the one I do, we have more of mental strain compared to physical strain and also eyes get tired due to working on the computers. Eyes have direct connection to the brain. If the eyes are tired you will also tire easily. Also constant thinking takes it toll on the brain. Sleeping or taking a power nap provide rest to the brain and the eyes. You would feel nourished and would be able to spend good time with the family.
Once I get up after the nap, I can practice yoga with more energy and also have a good time with my family. I would encourage you to try the same and see the benefits.
Note : If you feel that it is too difficult to wake up after 45 minutes also, it indicates that you need lot of rest and it is better to continue sleeping. This is usually caused by lack of sleep in the recent past.
