Vinyasa yoga
Some time back I had written about how to build stamina with yoga. The main asanas which work on you stamina are the standing poses . I talked how we can build stamina with yoga. The poses discussed are part of Iyengar Yoga. Another popular style of Yoga which helps build stamina rapidly is Vinyasa Yoga.
Vinyasa yoga is a popular form of yoga and usually helps build stamina steadily and safely for those who are weak and want to gain strength and stamina. Practicing Vinyasa can be really exhausting if you are just beginning the practice, but practice this for few weeks and your stamina will shoot up fast.
In Vinyasa yoga, the poses are interlinked with each other and here the movements are breath-synchronized. When you practice Vinyasa yoga, you move from one pose to another with either exhalation or inhalation depending upon whether you are closing yourself or opening up. Each pose in the sequence is selected so that it complements the previous and the next pose in terms of balance and counter balance of the effects of the previous pose.
Entire body gets involved and all the muscles and tissues get energized. There is lot of sweating which draws out the toxins with the sweat and cleanses your system.
Vinyasa yoga was made popular by Pattabhi Jois who was a disciple of Krishnamacharya. Among other disciple of Krishnamachaya is BKS Iyengar. Both BKS Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois have contributed tremendously to make yoga popular and brought it to masses though they have different styles.
Iyengar's style is more of static poses though not entirely static but the asanas are not that much linked as in Vinyasa system.
Here is a video on Vinyasa yoga. Enjoy.
